| Government of Iraq Liaison Title: Government of Iraq Liaison Number of positions: One Reports to: Program Manager, SCMS Based at: US Embassy, Baghdad Clearance required: SECRET Nationality: US Job purpose: He/she will work as a bi-lingual, bi-cultural media advisor liaising between USF-I spokesmen and the GoI He/she will develop and implement a strategic communication strategy for Government of Iraq ministries to further the implementation of an effective representative-style government and to help the GoI gain the trust and support of the Iraqi people He/she will provide Key Leader Engagement preparation services and support to USF-I Spokesmen He/she will facilitate relationships between USF-I / GoI Spokesmen and their staff He/she will provide active co-ordination with GoI Spokesmen prior to engagement to identify relevant current issues He/she will actively monitor Western and pan-Arab media sources to identify current reporting on GoI Spokesmen (working closely with the SCMS Media Monitoring Team) He/she will take notes during USF-I / GoI engagements He/she will provide reports following each engagement between USF-I and GoI He/she will research and engage with new GoI leaders He/she will maintain a library of information on GoI Spokesmen He/she will assist GoI Spokesmen with escorting and badge processing He/she will draft remarks and translations for media engagements He/she will provide capabilities to clearly explain GoI plans, objective, et-backs, successes through the mass-media operations He/she will respond rapidly to disinformation He/she will provide vital information during times of crisis He/she will identify and respond in a timely manner to development in reported media He/she will act as a bridge between the USF-I and Iraqi staff He/she will build, sustain and advance: strategic communication operations; relationship building activities; media operations planning; and implementation capabilities within the USF-I Spokesman’s office Skills, experience and competencies: He/she will have superior Arabic reading, writing and verbal communication skills He/she will be knowledgeable of, support and promote USF-I goals and objectives He/she will have familiarity and experience with the Iraqi Arabic dialect, Iraqi culture and Iraqi customs He/she will conduct near real-time accurate interpretation of on-going conversations He/she will have positive, collaborative and team-oriented interpersonal skills He/she will remain adaptable working in austere environments He/she will have experience of working with western or pan-Arab media organizations He/she will have an excellent working knowledge of classical Arabic He/she will have an excellent working knowledge of English He/she will have experience of working with and providing real-time translations for officer grade military staff | |
