Communications Electronics Technician (COMM/EL)

This is a position with a physical rating of heavy. Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the Electronic Maintenance Field. Personnel with an operator level communication background do not qualify for this position.

Qualified personnel must have extensive experience with TMDE, to include AN/GRM-122, NVG test set, multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Must be able to perform direct and general support level maintenance of radio receivers, transmitters, communication security equipment, controlled cryptographic items, and other associated equipment.

Must have a U.S. Passport and a current Secret Service Clearance. Must be able to pass a physical exam due to the harsh living and working conditions. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. This is a one (1) year assignment.

You should expect to work 12 hours days, 7 days a week. U.S. passport required. Must pass a physical exam due to the harsh living and working conditions. Criminal background check and drug screen will be conducted.

Working Conditions

Extreme danger, stress, physical hardships and possible field living conditions associated with this position within a desert camp complex.

Ability to function during an extended assignment at a foreign, in-country facility exposed to seasonal temperature extremes. Ability to cope with shared cafeteria, bath and sleeping quarters. Must be able to walk, kneel, bend and stoop, and have correctable vision. Employee will be supervised by the Site Manager or senior Human Resources personnel. Perform direct and general support (DS/GS) level maintenance and repair on special electronic devices, including: night vision equipment, mine detectors, scattering systems, electronic distance and azimuth orienting devices.

Must be able to use test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), i.e. AN/GRM-122 Radio Test Set, to determine the cause and location of malfunctions, extent of faults and the level of maintenance required. Repair systems, equipment and subassemblies by adjusting, aligning, repairing and replacing defective components. Repair systems, replaces defective components and performs bench test to verify operations of repaired equipment. Must also be able to perform preventive maintenance on TMDE and tools.

Evacuate damaged equipment and components to higher-level repair activities. Perform preventive maintenance checks and services on tools, test, measurements, and diagnosis equipment and vehicles. Perform final or quality control inspection of repaired equipment. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
