| Voice Technician SCOPE U.S. Citizenship required - The Voice Technician’s primary serves as a central point of contact and works closely with other organizational support groups to coordinate the installation, maintenance and administration of all telecommunications equipment and services in the International Zone. RESPONSIBILITIES The Voice Technician will be required to: • Perform site surveys for new voice communications services • Pull, test, tone, label, troubleshoot, and repair voice communications cables and wiring • Provides training in the use of equipment and supporting software to end users • Apply understanding of telecommunications software and hardware to diagnose problems, determine appropriate course of action, provide complete follow-through to successful resolution or escalate to appropriate support technician and/or department • Maintain accurate documentation of all user requests, repairs and reported issues including cause, resolution and preventative action • Work with other Technology Support staff to implement and maintain internal and external telecommunication requirements • Install new voice communications systems including phones and wiring as well as related system programming • Provide solutions, discussions and status of normal business processes • Provide inside/outside cabling installations, install new lines and repair existing DSN phone lines • Interface with vendor and other outside technology support organizations • Discuss and diagnose problems of moderate to high complexity with remote location technicians and departmental groups • Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • U.S. citizen with valid U.S. passport • Active SECRET security clearance • BS or BA degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred, or a corresponding number of years experience in telecommunications industry • At least 5 years experience with voice communication equipment in an environment utilizing Avaya’s Definity G3 and Prologix systems • Working knowledge of switching hardware such as DS1 cards, announcement boards and DS3 to DS1 cross-connect • Must be able to install and troubleshoot physical trunks, voicemail, digital and analog ports and perform software translations and adjunct services • At least 5 years experience with CAT 5 cabling systems, cross connecting and punching down cable • Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Call accounting experience with Definity Network Telemanagement (DNT) and Report Client preferred • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills • Excellent customer service skills and demeanor • Demonstrated self-starter and demonstrated ability to independently resolve problems • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with short timelines • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations • Ability to maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects • Ability to perform and participate in a team-oriented environment • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers | |
