Technical Control Facility Transmissions Technician

SCOPE
U.S. Citizenship required - The Transmission Technician’s primary serves as a central point of contact and works closely with other organizational support groups to coordinate, install, and maintain, telecommunications equipment and services in the International Zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Control Technician will be required to:
• Perform site surveys for new transmission communications services
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot transmission circuits on the PROMINA-400/800 to include fiber optic modems, and encryption devices.
• Possess a working knowledge of troubleshooting RF paths utilizing spectrum analyzers, Fireberds, and oscilloscopes.
• Perform cryptographic changes on equipment to include:
o KIV-7HSB
o KIV-19 & KIV-19A
o KG-175 & KG-175B
o KG-75
• Draft Request for Services (RFS’s) and Telecommunication Service Orders (TSO’s) documentation in accordance with DISA standards, and maintain circuit history folders.
• Schedule Authorize Service Interruptions (ASI’s) with Communications Information Support (CIS) and external units as well as any other transmission related duties as assigned by the TCF supervisor or operations manager.
• Perform cable fabrication to include RS530 and RS449, and be familiar with the standard color code for Telecom cables.
• Maintain a Master Station Log (FACIT) to provide information on all events and issues as they arise, and possess a working knowledge of Solar Winds and Integrated Network Management System (INMS) monitoring tools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• U.S. citizen with valid U.S. passport
• Active SECRET security clearance
• At least 5 years experience with transmission communication equipment.
• Must be able to install and troubleshoot physical links, trunks, and transmission circuits to include:
o Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR)
o Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR)
o Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN)
o Digital Switch Network (DSN)
o Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS)
o Releasable Internet Protocol Router Network (RIPR)
o White House Communications Agency (WHCA) circuits
• Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications
